The Course

Surgical Technology Team

Grading

The student must achieve a grade of 75 or better in each course to be allowed to stay in the program and successfully complete the full year of study.

Records of the student's grades are kept on file by the school and are available upon request.

At the completion of each service, a written exam is given. The student is also evaluated on clinical performance daily.

 

Certification

Upon completion of the program, a student will be awarded a certificate of completion, provided that all required criteria have been met. This qualifies the graduate to sit for the National Certification Exam administered by the The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA).

Accreditation

The program is accredited by The Commision on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). The CAAHEP address is: 1361 Park Street, Clearwater, FL, 33756. (727) 210-2350.

CAAHEP as well as the ARC-ST (The Accreditation Review Committee on Education in Surgical Technology) and the AST (The Association of Surgical Technologists) are the cooperating organizations regarding education in Surgical Technology.
